This trip and my presentation of these seminars would not have been possible
without the kind indulgence of Professor Thomas Gross. I am also indebted to
Dr. Robert Chase (Chief of Surgery at Stanford for more than 30 years) for his
encouragement and support. Jim Adams has been a quiet but encouraging voice
during my recent Stanford interlude. I am also owe an enormous debt to John
Dolph, Anatomist and Embalmer, for his calm encouragement and his ability to
quietly get things done. Without John I'd not have had the courage to
dismantle the ceiling tiles in the dissection lab so that I could suspend
equipment from the structural support elements of the building, for example.
Finally, I am deeply indebted to Liz Rogers whose enthusiams is infectious.
Without these and many other nameless people, this trip would not be possible.
